Shipyard Item Selects Honeywell Connected Control, Safety and Security System - News

February 3, 2021, Houston, USA-- Honeywell recently announced that it has been awarded a major commercial contract by Shandong Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. (Shandong Power Construction) to provide a package of connected control, communications, safety and security systems for the King Salamin International Integrated Port Facility Item developed by Saudi Aramco in the Ras Al-Khair region of Saudi Arabia.

Upon completion, the complex will be among the largest shipyards to automate operations by introducing a range of Honeywell custom technologies for better safety, efficiency and security performance. As the main project procurement and construction contractor, Shandong Power Construction will be responsible for the integration of the whole system.

Honeywell will provide a complete set of interconnection systems for the item through Shandong Power, including:

• A complete integrated cybersecurity automation control system gives facility operators full visibility into field processes to reduce workload and increase efficiency. These include Honeywell's ControlEdge™ programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data concentrators, safety managers SC and Experion® process knowledge systems (PKS), and data acquisition and monitoring control (SCADA) systems.
• Integrate communication and security systems, including local communication and network security systems, closed-circuit television (CCTV), and access control technologies, to help facility operators greatly improve on-site security.
• Fire and gas detection systems, including fire and gas controllers and automatic smoke detection systems, help isolate areas in emergencies and minimize facility-wide downtime while maintaining safety.
