Shanghai, China, February 25, 2021 – Honeywell announced that Hengyi Industrial (Brunei) Co., Ltd. (Hengyi Industrial) Damora Refining and Chemical Integration Item will introduce HoneywellUOP's advanced continuous reforming and aromatics technology. The item will reach a crude oil processing capacity of 200,000 barrels per day.
UOP will provide a series of solutions for the start of the item and subsequent operation, including technical licensing, engineering design, key equipment, advanced catalysts and adsorbents, production staff training and technical services.

Hengyi Industrial's integrated item in Brunei mainly converts naphtha into aromatics through CCR Platforming™ continuous reforming technology, and then recovers high-purity paraxylene from mixed xylene through the Parex TM aromatic hydrocarbon combination unit adsorption and separation of light desorption agent, and the combined unit using light desorption agent adsorption and separation Parex technology will produce 2.3 million tons of high-purity paraxylene per year. It is the main basic chemical raw material for the production of a variety of plastic resins, films and fibers.
The combined unit also includes a UOP naphtha pre-hydrogenation unit, an olefin removal process (ORP), a Sulfolane™ aromatic hydrocarbon extraction process, an Isomar™ isomerization process, and a Tatoray™ disproportionation process. The Isomar™ process converts xylene isomers into high value-added p-xylene, while the Tatoray™ disproportionation process converts toluene and heavy aromatic hydrocarbons into xylene and high-purity benzene mixtures, which can more than triple the yield of p-xylene from naphtha raw materials. In addition, UOP will provide a second Sulfolane unit for the extraction of pyrolysis gasoline, as well as a wax oil hydrocracking™ unit and a diesel hydrocracking™ unit to maximize naphtha yields.
After the completion of the item, Hengyi Industry can achieve an annual production capacity of 3.8 million tons of paraxylene. Hengyi Industrial is a joint venture between Zhejiang Hengyi Group and the Brunei government, and is a major global producer of polyester resins and petrochemicals.
