"I am very happy to see companies from all over the world at the meeting and see the scene of the rush of people. Coming to the CIIE for the third consecutive year, Steven Lien, president of Honeywell Aerospace Group Asia Pacific, could not hide his excitement in an exclusive interview with Jiemian News.

Steven Lien was interviewed by Jiemian News
Honeywell is a Fortune Global 500 high-tech company that provides aircraft engines, cockpit and cabin electronics, in-flight wireless connectivity, logistics and other technologies and products that can be found on nearly all commercial and aviation aircraft around the world.
On the first day of the CIIE on the morning of November 5, Honeywell signed a new cooperation agreement with China Eastern Airlines Group at the site of Hall 4.1, including three values: first, A320NEO aircraft selection, China Eastern Airlines will choose Honeywell auxiliary power unit (APU); the second is the IMMR upgrade and modification agreement; and the third is the spare parts centralized procurement agreement.
At last year's CIIE, Honeywell Group reached cooperation with a number of local Chinese companies such as COMAC, and is expected to jointly sign about 20 cooperation agreements this year, including aerospace, performance materials, smart buildings, process control, smart warehousing and other business sectors.
"For enterprises, the CIIE is a good platform for cooperation. Lin Shiwei said.
The latest equipment after the epidemic was unveiled
At the CIIE exhibition hall, Honeywell focused on the newly developed ultraviolet cabin cleaning equipment, which was unveiled to the public for the first time.

Honeywell UV cabin cleaning equipment
According to Lin Shiwei, ultraviolet light has been used in hospital environments for many years and can effectively reduce bacteria on the surface of objects. Designed and manufactured for the cabin environment, this device is the size of a dining car in the cabin and can be pushed flexibly in the cabin, emitting ultraviolet light to illuminate the interior surfaces and seats for cleaning purposes. It can clean the cabin within 10 minutes of landing at a cost of a few dollars.
"While the pandemic has brought many challenges to the global aviation industry chain, we also see new opportunities. For example, the pandemic has brought about a major change: people are more concerned and concerned about safety and health than ever before. Lin Shiwei introduced that the new equipment launched by Honeywell Aerospace Group in response to the epidemic has been delivered to JetBlue Airways in the United States, and the product upgrade will be completed in the near future, and the new version will be used in more transportation scenarios, and it is expected that it can be delivered to more Chinese airlines from the end of this year to the beginning of next year.
Honeywell has also developed a variety of air quality monitoring devices that can monitor air quality not only in the cabin, but also in places such as terminals, office buildings, and schools.
In addition, Honeywell also focused on showcasing its latest connected aircraft solutions at this year's CIIE. Among them, the JetWave satellite communication system can help aircraft seamlessly access the Ka-band satellite network around the world, providing passengers with high-speed network access of up to 180Mbps, which is comparable to the ground. The system is currently widely installed abroad, and he looks forward to introducing it to China next year.
Deepen cooperation with Chinese enterprises
Talking about the latest strategy for the Chinese market, Lin Shiwei told Jiemian News: First of all, for aviation companies, China's large airlines have strong capabilities, and Honeywell will maintain cooperation with major airlines to help them upgrade their equipment and provide related services. For small and medium-sized airlines, Honeywell has a team of about 400 engineers in China who can provide packaging services to help them improve efficiency and make up for weaknesses.
Secondly, for Chinese equipment manufacturer partners, Honeywell has reached a cooperation with COMAC to provide the main flight control system for the ARJ-21 and the auxiliary power system, wheel and brake system, flight control work package and navigation work package for the C919. In the future, in addition to continuing to cooperate with the progress of C919 and ARJ21Item, Honeywell also hopes to provide more connected innovative products for it.
Third, for China's business jet, general aviation and helicopter markets, business jets account for a small proportion of the Chinese market and will take time to grow, but general aviation and helicopters have begun to grow, and Honeywell can provide helicopter engines and avionics systems for the Chinese market, although the current proportion is small, but there is room for growth.
Lin Shiwei said: "In the past 20 years, China's aviation market has grown rapidly, and I think it will still maintain a very strong growth momentum for at least the next 15 years or so. We are willing to participate in this with local airlines and partners and develop together. ”
Confident in the recovery of global aviation
In the context of the new crown epidemic, the impact of the global aviation industry chain continues. Globally, many countries have closed their borders to prevent further spread of the new crown epidemic, and now only a few countries are gradually opening their borders, and it is expected that the air travel market will not be able to recover by the middle of next year or the end of next year.
In this context, Honeywell's traditional aviation business has declined this year, and there has been a temporary decline in some markets, so Honeywell has adjusted its resource allocation and launched a series of new products and solutions to cope. At the same time, Honeywell Group has a very rich product line, in addition to aerospace business, there are also products and technologies in the fields of process control, intelligent buildings, performance materials and other fields, which enhance the ability to resist risks. Lin Shiwei revealed that although the business was negatively affected in the early stages of the epidemic, it then achieved a strong rebound.
Some data predict that the overall recovery of the aviation industry may not be until 2024, but Lin Shiwei believes that the time may be earlier. "Of course, this depends to a certain extent on when the new crown vaccine can be developed and fully vaccinated. He said.
In Lin Shiwei's view, although people's travel demand has been compressed this year, the demand in the global aviation market is still strong. Among them, with the control of the domestic epidemic in China, a large number of travel demand has emerged again, and the recovery rate of China's domestic air travel is leading the world. Especially from September to October this year, the data shows that China's domestic aviation market has basically recovered to the level of the same period last year. In the medium term, he believes that the international aviation market will gradually recover.
"In the next one to two years, we will work with the global aviation industry to help the market recover as soon as possible. Lin Shiwei said.
