Honeywell and lighting solutions provider Signify announced a strategic alliance agreement to deploy integrated smart lighting solutions for commercial buildings to improve building occupant productivity and satisfaction while reducing energy consumption.
The collaboration integrates Signify's Interact connected lighting system and software and UV-C disinfection lamps with the Honeywell Building Management System and the Honeywell Connected Enterprise Performance Management Platform to manage energy consumption while monitoring building utilization and air quality metrics such as temperature and humidity. Starting in early 2021, Signify's lighting solutions* will complement Honeywell's Healthy Building Air Quality Solution and can be controlled, measured, and monitored through the Healthy Building Dashboard to keep track of air quality and surface cleanliness compliance and metrics.
To improve building occupant productivity and satisfaction, Signify will also offer humanized lighting solutions such as NatureConnect and UV-C disinfection lamps. UV-C irradiation can destroy the DNA or RNA of microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria to achieve disinfection effect. Laboratory tests have shown that Signify's UV-C light source reduces the infectivity of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on surfaces to below detectable levels in as little as 9 seconds
In addition, building owners and operators can better manage their lighting systems and energy efficiency with smart LED lighting systems. U.S. Commercial Building Energy Consumption Statistics Database
Lighting is the largest electricity consumer in commercial buildings, accounting for 17% of the total electricity consumption of commercial buildings in the United States. Electricity consumption rates are similar around the world.
Signify's connected LED lighting system, Interact Office, can save up to 70% on lighting energy consumption4, and together with Honeywell's advanced building control and sensing systems, facilities can save up to 30% on energy costs5.
"The role of building lighting systems in improving occupant comfort, health and productivity, as well as energy conservation and emission reduction is becoming increasingly prominent. We expect this trend to continue. "Partnering with Signify, we are able to implement integrated lighting solutions for our customers, integrating customizable, personalized lighting options into the Honeywell Connected Platform and Building Management System platform to help improve the occupant experience," said Vimal Kapur , President and CEO of Honeywell Smart Building Technology Group. ”
"Lighting is known to improve the experience and satisfaction of building occupants. "Many customers expect our lighting solutions to deliver more value," said Harsh Chitale, General Manager of Signify's Digital Lighting Solutions Business Unit. We look forward to working with Honeywell to develop products and systems that provide greater value to our customers." Our goal is to provide more benefits to building occupants, such as improved satisfaction and productivity, while providing channel partners with products that are easier to commission and maintain. ”
