Product description

Sensepoint XCD provides comprehensive monitoring for combustible, toxic and oxygen hazards in hazardous industrial areas. A tri-colour LCD backlight gives instant status visibility: green for normal, flashing yellow for fault/warning, and flashing red for alarm.

The detector is fully configurable through non-intrusive magnetic switches, so technicians can perform setup and calibration without opening the enclosure. This one-man workflow, combined with plug-in sensor cartridges and a common transmitter platform, significantly reduces downtime and lifecycle operating cost.

Global approvals and compliance

鈥?UL/cUL coverage for North America and Latin America hazardous area classes/divisions
鈥?ATEX and IECEx flameproof approvals for global Zone applications
鈥?IP66 environmental protection for demanding outdoor and process environments
鈥?Performance and EMC references include EN60079-29-1, EN45544, EN50104, EN50271, EN50270 and related standards
鈥?China projects can align with China GB Ex and PA related approval paths based on final ordered variant

Transmitter variant selection (project view)

鈥?STD: standard integral deployment for routine detection points with fast commissioning
鈥?RFD: remote flammable-oriented deployment for hard-to-access or high-risk sensor locations
鈥?RTD: remote toxic/oxygen-oriented deployment where maintenance accessibility is critical

Selection sequence: define gas/range, confirm hazardous area certification, choose integral vs remote architecture, then map outputs to PLC/DCS and local relay logic.

Installation and wiring guidance

鈥?3-wire architecture with selectable sink/source 4-20mA output and optional RS485 Modbus RTU
鈥?Typical terminal capacity 0.5-2.5mm虏; shielded cable and single-point grounding are recommended
鈥?Mechanical installation supports wall or pipe mounting with M20 or 3/4"NPT entries by certified version
鈥?For first commissioning, follow power checks, zero/span calibration and inhibit release steps in sequence
鈥?Remote sensing capability up to 30m supports safer maintenance planning for inaccessible locations

Maintenance and lifecycle control

鈥?Honeywell guidance: response test and recalibration every 6 months (or site-defined interval)
鈥?Catalytic sensors can be affected by poisons (silicones/sulphides/halogenated compounds); typical life about 36 months
鈥?NDIR flammable sensors are poison immune and can provide longer service life (typical up to 5 years)
鈥?Toxic/oxygen sensor lifetime depends on exposure profile; typical service life is 24 months or longer under managed maintenance
鈥?Critical safety rule: isolate power before opening enclosure or replacing sensors in hazardous areas

How to use PDF figures effectively

鈥?Mechanical drawings: convert into installation method statements and site acceptance checklists
鈥?Electrical diagrams: use for panel wiring review, loop resistance checks, and grounding audits
鈥?UI/menu diagrams: use for technician training on calibration and parameter setup
鈥?Fault/warning tables: convert to after-sales troubleshooting playbooks and spare-part strategies

We can further extract the most valuable four figure groups (installation, wiring, calibration, fault code flow) into quick-reference cards for this product page.
