Product & Technology Selection

For offshore oil & gas applications, detector selection should cover sensing principle, range, response time, hazardous area rating, ingress protection, and maintenance. Open decks: Searchline open-path IR; pump rooms/compressors: Optima Plus or XCD; H₂S zones: electrochemical sensors plus portable verification.

Selection Principles

• Combustible gas: catalytic for non-inhibited atmospheres; IR for poisoned environments (offshore, tank farms)
• Toxic gas: electrochemical sensors with cross-interference and range matching (e.g. H₂S 0–50 ppm)
• Oxygen: monitor both deficiency (<19.5%) and enrichment (>23.5%)
• Installation: Salt spray, high humidity, vibration, dense Ex zones — 316 stainless housing, IP66+ outdoors
• Outputs: 4-20mA and Modbus RTU for DCS/SCADA integration
