Why this principle
Sensepoint XCD is a fixed-point detector for flammable, toxic and oxygen hazards. The sensor cartridge and transmitter are modular: a cartridge is auto-recognized when plugged in — true plug-and-play with hot-swap field replacement. One transmitter accepts catalytic, electrochemical (SureCell) and infrared cartridges, so you no longer need different instruments for different gases.
The explosion-proof dual-chamber housing separates wiring from electronics for safe, simple field termination. The large LCD shows concentration (ppm / %Vol / %LEL), gas type and status with a tri-colour backlight (green normal / red alarm / yellow fault) readable at night. Built-in temperature compensation; a magnetic wand gives one-man calibration and menu access without opening the enclosure — no hot-work permit. An IR remote is optional.

Calibration & maintenance
Honeywell advises a bump test and recalibration every 6 months with inspection every 3 months; allow 30 minutes warm-up before calibration. Bump test via the weather-protector port or calibration cap; accurate calibration requires the calibration cap, with flammable span gas at 25–75%LEL. During calibration the output is inhibited (2 mA default) to avoid false alarms; oxygen needs no zero — span directly on clean air (20.9%Vol).
