Honeywell XNX XNX-AMAV-MHNNN – no sensor (transmitter body), mV, ATEX, Aluminium, M25

XNX-AMAV-MHNNN is a Honeywell XNX universal transmitter body with the mV personality, ATEX / IECEx (INMETRO on selected MPD SKUs), 4 × M25 entries, LM25 aluminium (painted), Modbus RTU + 4–20 mA HART, local HART port on the transmitter, and no MPD sensor in the carton. Order it when the field later fits an MPD catalytic or MPD IR head (CB1 / IV1 / IF1 / IC1) instead of a factory-configured detector.

Why this personality / sensor

The mV personality is the millivolt interface for Honeywell MPD heads. Catalytic and MPD IR share that board; an IR Optima/Excel head will not talk to this SKU, and an electrochemical cell needs the EC personality. Buy a body when the sensor slate is still open or when you stock transmitters separately from MPD cartridges.

Personality and replaceable parts

XNX-AMAV-MHNNN uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. This SKU ships without a sensor; order the head by gas. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.

Typical applications

Typical body SKUs sit in a warehouse next to mixed MPD stock: pump rooms that may take catalytic LEL, biogas roofs that need methane IR, LPG pits that need propane IR, and inerting cabinets that need CO₂. The transmitter is already certified and threaded; you only mate the MPD later.

Installation and wiring

Wall-mount XNX-AMAV-MHNNN (LM25 aluminium (painted), approx. 2.8 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × M25 entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-AMAV-MHNNN. Land XNX-AMAV-MHNNN 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-AMAV-MHNNN lid stay non-intrusive. XNX-AMAV-MHNNN is a body: wall-mount the transmitter first and mate the head after the personality is confirmed—do not buy a configured SKU until the gas is frozen.

FAQ

Can I add an MPD sensor to XNX-AMAV-MHNNN later?
XNX-AMAV-MHNNN ships as a transmitter body. mV personalities accept MPD CB1/IV1/IF1/IC1 heads; IR personalities need Optima/Excel; EC personalities need XNX electrochemical cells. Do not mix those three families on this board.
Is XNX-AMAV-MHNNN a complete gas detector?
No. XNX-AMAV-MHNNN is electronics and enclosure only. A configured detector has a three-character sensor code such as CB1 instead of NNN.
When should I swap XNX-AMAV-MHNNN aluminium for 316SS?
Use XNX-AMAV-MHNNN (aluminium, ~2.8 kg) in inland, painted plant. Coastal, splash and sour-water decks should move to stainless sibling XNX-AMSV-MHNNN.
Can I convert XNX-AMAV-MHNNN from ATEX M25 to NPT in the field?
No. XNX-AMAV-MHNNN flameproof entries are machined M25. North-American NPT is UL sibling XNX-UTAV-MHNNN, not an adaptor on this ATEX body.
Can I retrofit Foundation Fieldbus on XNX-AMAV-MHNNN after it ships?
No. XNX-AMAV-MHNNN is the Modbus RTU option board. FFB is a different sales option (XNX-AMAV-FHNNN), not a jumper on this lid.
