Honeywell XNX XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 – MPD IR propane 0–100 %LEL, mV, UL, 316SS, 3/4" NPT

XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 is a factory-configured Honeywell XNX with MPD infrared propane 0–100 %LEL, mV personality, UL / cUL, 4 × 3/4" NPT, 316 stainless steel, Foundation Fieldbus + 4–20 mA HART, no local HART port. Order it for LPG bullets and cylinder halls; methane IR (IV1) will under-read propane.

Why this personality / sensor

Propane is heavier than air and slides into pits. MPD IR tuned for C₃ does not need oxygen and ignores silicone poisons that kill CB1 beads. Mount 200–400 mm above grade at the pit lip, not on the roof.

Personality and replaceable parts

XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. Factory-fitted with MPD IR propane 0–100 %LEL. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.

Typical applications

LPG tank farms, bottle-filling halls and kitchen-gas manifolds need a propane-specific IR trip. XNX hard-wires 4–20 mA HART to tank ESD; a handheld only proves the aisle you walked.

Installation and wiring

Wall-mount XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 (316 stainless steel, approx. 5.0 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × 3/4" NPT entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-UTSV-FNIF1. Land XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 lid stay non-intrusive. XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 propane belongs at the pit lip, not the roof.

FAQ

Which sensors?
CAT/IR/EC etc. via personality/sensor configuration digits.
Documents?
Manual links on SKU/hub pages.
Local HART?
Depends on the local-HART digit — do not confuse with other options.
Is XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 the same as Modbus?
No. XNX-UTSV-FNIF1 is Foundation Fieldbus. Modbus RTU is sibling XNX-UTSV-MNIF1. Both still carry 4–20 mA HART on XNX.
Comms options?
Relays, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus etc. depending on order.
