Honeywell XNX XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 – MPD catalytic 0–100 %LEL, mV, UL, 316SS, 3/4" NPT

XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 is a factory-configured Honeywell XNX gas detector: mV personality, MPD catalytic bead 0–100 %LEL, UL / cUL, 4 × 3/4" NPT, 316 stainless steel, 3 relays + 4–20 mA HART, no local HART port. Specify it for mixed hydrocarbon LEL points where infrared windows would fog or the stream is not methane/propane-specific.

Why this personality / sensor

A poison-resistant MPD pellistor sees combustion heat across a wide hydrocarbon mix, including species an IR filter misses. It needs oxygen and hates silicones. Mount above light-gas releases and below heavy vapours; keep silicone sealants off the sinter.

Personality and replaceable parts

XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 uses the mV personality (MPD catalytic / MPD IR) board and mates with Honeywell MPD catalytic bead or MPD infrared sensors. Factory-fitted with MPD catalytic 0–100 %LEL. Spares live on product-3991. Do not substitute Sensepoint XCD cartridges on XNX.

Typical applications

Pump rooms, filling gantries and compressor packages still standardise on catalytic LEL because the gas slate is mixed. XNX holds 4–20 mA HART into the ESD matrix; magnetic non-intrusive calibration keeps the flameproof lid closed.

Installation and wiring

Wall-mount XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 (316 stainless steel, approx. 5.0 kg) on a rigid stand sized for that mass. This SKU uses 4 × 3/4" NPT entries—glands must match; do not retap XNX-UTSV-RNCB1. Land XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 4–20 mA HART per the loop drawing; relays/Modbus/FFB exist only on the matching option board. Magnetic-wand menus on the XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 lid stay non-intrusive. Keep silicones off the XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 pellistor; light hydrocarbons high, heavy vapours low.

FAQ

Comms options?
Relays, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus etc. depending on order.
Local HART?
Depends on the local-HART digit — do not confuse with other options.
Will silicone vapours kill the XNX-UTSV-RNCB1 pellistor?
Yes. Silicones and chlorinated solvents poison the MPD catalytic bead on XNX-UTSV-RNCB1. Specify IV1/IF1 infrared if those contaminants are routine.
Install?
Torque, entries and earthing per the manual.
Vs XCD?
XNX emphasises a universal transmitter platform; XCD is often sold as integrated configs.
